
Executive Director Nell Barnes receives the generous grant award from CARQUESTs "Dollars for Doers" program. Funds from the CARQUEST Charitable Foundaion will definitly make a difference in our programming this winter. The Grant is making it possible for us to replace many of our materials in our Resource Library. Nell is flanked by Paul Neal and Ignacio Fortuno of CARQUEST. Thank you CARQUEST!!!
April 2009 - Learning Together received a grant from the "Kids 'N Community Foundation" and the Carolina Hurricanes - Plus some great seats to see Hockey! Fun evening for many! (Executive Director Nell Barnes is in the center with a big smile of gratitude!) Go Canes!
October 2009 - Learning Together received its second Legacy Award from the Junior League of Raleigh. We are proud of our years of continued support from the League. Pictured is 2009-2010 League President, Melissa Matton and Executive Director, Nell Barnes at the fall membership meeting.
June 2007 - Learning Together recieved recognition from Wake County Public School system for its participation in the Community Based Vocational Training Program for the 2006-2007 school year.
November 2006 - Junior League of Raleigh presented its 2006 Legacy Award in honor of Learning Together's significant contribution to our community and in honor of the JLR's members longstanding involvement with Learning Together
August 2006 - Executive Director Nell Barnes was honored with the Dr. Luther R. Medlin Distinguished Citizen of the Year for 2005-2006. The award was presented on August 26 during the North Carolina East District Civitan Convention. The nomination letter describe Nell as exemplifying the same characteristics of excellence in education, leadership, and community service that Dr. Medlin exhibited during his career as an education, public and private citizen, and as a Civitan.
May 2006 - Rosa Velez received the outstanding Child Care Teacher Award at the Tylenol and Terry Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation National Awards Ceremony. As part of the application procedure Rosa had to develop an enhancement project for children. Rosa project was entitled “Stores and More” and provides children the opportunity to expand in the area of cultural diversity, cognitive language, motor and self help skills.
March 2006 - Learning Together’s executive director, Nell Barnes, received the Dorothy B. Graham Child Care Leadership Award. She was chosen from many outstanding nominees in the Triangle based on her dedication to all families, especially those with children who are at risk for or with developmental disabilities.
November 2004 - Learning Together was awarded the Agency of Excellence in recognition of meeting the best practice standards required for certification as a Triangle Unites Way Member Agency. This award was granted because Learning Together "exemplifies the highest integrity in nonprofit business management, serving as a model for provision of quality services with effectiveness and efficiency."
