Eric has been an active supporter of Learning Together for several years. Under his leadership with the Board our ties with corporate volunteers has been strengthed. Volunteers are important to our program. They bring energy, ideas, smiles, and support to our classrooms. Eric enouraged and led his Inside Sales Team with Cisco Systems, to sponsor a Field Day in the spring of 2009 for our students. The children had a grand time with games, face painting and lots of laughter. In December of 2009 Eric encouraged another group of young professionals to visit the school. This time they read stories to the children, helped create packets for our office, and brainstormed lots of ideas for us. Eric and his wife,Whitney, seen in the photo at one of our Wine Dinners - have a young daughter and new little twins born this March! We consider them a big part of OUR Learning Together "family". Thank you ,Eric !!

Ken has been another great supporter of our programs for several years. Ken might sit quietly in our meetings but he always amazes us with the magical support he seems to bring to our annual Tees for Tots Tournaments. He was on campus several times this winter supporting our efforts as we have been "wading" through complex building renovations. The building that Learning Together shares with other agencies was been fortunate to have some nice renovations which will serve us well for years to come. Yet understandably, renovations can bring challenges during the construction. That is a time when strong board members, like Ken, add a dimension of support to staff and to students! Ken is another great Cisco Systems Sales manager we can count on in a pinch! We are forutuante to have the watchful eye of Board Members. Thank you Ken! You seem to know how to make our work and fund raising more effective!
We asked Paul to share his interests in Learning Together and he said, " After finishing my Masters’ Degree, I wanted to get more involved in the community and help in any way possible. A co-worker suggested using my finance knowledge by joining the Learning Together Board of Directors. I truly believe that working with children at the youngest of age will give them the best opportunity to learn. Learning Together has a great track record of determining the needs of young children and the community, then finding the resources necessary to try to fill those needs. " Wow! Are we glad Paul took the adviceand joined our Board! As Senior Director of Financial Planning and Analyisis for CARQUEST in Raleigh - we are excited to have his leadership!
Joe has a personal committment to Learning Together that he shares with us: “My daughter was diagnosed with developmental delays when she was 3. Her two years at Learning Together helped her enormously at a crucial time for dealing with the problems she had, primarily in the area of communication. Today, she’s a freshman at Garner High School and since middle school has consistently made the AB Honor Roll. Learning Together had a huge impact on her life. I’m here to make sure it continues to have an impact on the lives of other kids who need help.”
You may recognize Joe Miller as a writer. For 17 years his outdoors and fitness columns appeared in Raleigh's News and observer and he is the author of two outdoor books, "Take it Outside," and "100 Classic Hikes in North Carolina." He will have another book published this spring! Talk about a perfect writier for our logs!!! Thank you Joe! Not just your writing but your passion for our school!
