Anonymous Challenge Grant

 Dear Friends,

Soon the days of summer will be upon us filled with sprinklers, ice cream trucks, fireworks, beach trips and more. Life seems to slow down even if just for a little bit during those days.  However, meeting the needs of young children of all abilities is a year round activity for us and we are proud to have served the community for over 4 decades.

Each year we continue to serve additional children and families with the need growing at an exponential rate. As the need continues to grow and federal, state, and local budgets are cut, Learning Together relies more on the community and individuals like you to help us serve these young children and families.

I would like for you to meet Charlie, a student served in our Developmental Day Program, who with your support has made wonderful progress in an inclusive setting. His parents, Charles and Katie, describe Charlie’s achievements…

Charlie has Sensory Processing Disorder, a neurological disorder that causes him to have inappropriate motor and behavioral responses in different situations. Prior to starting at Learning Together, Charlie’s speech delays, emotional delays and difficulty with transitioning were difficult and stressful for our entire family. Since starting at Learning Together, Charlie has improved leaps and bounds! Not only have his meltdowns decreased, but he now has the tools he needs to self-sooth and calm himself down. He is able to express himself with his words and his speech continues to improve daily. Charlie loves going to school now and is able to communicate what he has learned daily and how much fun he has had. On top of that, Charlie now sings! It seems so minor, but he NEVER did that before, and now he loves to perform the songs he learned at school for us. To all of the other parents out there, believe in the magic that happens behind the doors of this amazing organization, but also believe in your child. With the support of the Learning Together family, Charlie is not only safe and happy through the day, but he is able to move his own mountains!

Charlie is just one of the many children served annually at Learning Together who is moving their own mountains and reaching the stars. Your support makes this possible and so much more.

Learning Together has been extremely blessed to have received a Challenge Grant from an anonymous donor. We have been challenged to raise $25,000. For each dollar raised our anonymous donor is willing to match your gift, dollar for dollar. Your individual impact on the young children here at Learning Together will go even further as we continue to serve Charlie and children just like him allowing them to reach their full potential.

I hope you will consider making a gift to Learning Together at this time. Please know that whatever you are able to contribute to this worthy mission will be gratefully received and appreciated.

From the Learning Together family to yours, thank you for your continuous support and dedication to meeting the developmental, educational, and health needs of young children of all abilities. We wish you a safe, cool summer filled with fun!

Sincerely,

Nell G. Barnes, Ed. D.
Executive Director
